Whenever I have a lot of research to do I tend to revisit books and talks by Malcolm Gladwell to get myself into an curious state of mind. While in this mindset I tend to ask counterintuitive questions challenging my on perceptions and the status quo. In doing so last week I came to the realization it is more important to tell compelling stories backed up by data than it is to use data to rationalize one's argument. Gladwell has clearly mastered this delicate art. I'm also a huge fan of the way he uses interviews to flesh out his theories. In this video he goes into some detail about his process.
